Public Health Integration: Focusing for the Future
  CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Conference provides state-of-the-art continuing education to professionals in Preventive Medicine, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Health Promotion, and related fields. It does this using a variety of forums, which are listed below. We recommend you read this material carefully to obtain an overview of the Conference, and to assist you in registering for the courses and sessions most important to you.

USING THE WEB-BASED DAY-AT-A-GLANCE: This format allows the attendee to view all events scheduled for each day of the conference. More information on each event is available from the "Find a Course" link.

PRE-CONFERENCE COURSES: Formal classes with several courses taught simultaneously. They usually last from a half-day to two and a half days, and enrollment is limited to a preset quota to maximize learning. Courses are integrated topics requiring attendance during the entire presentation to provide maximum benefit. Examples of such courses include: Pest Control Technician Recertification and Navy Health Promotion and Wellness Course. Quotas are required, and some entry restrictions may apply. There are no fees for these courses. To register for courses, log in to your account and select "Find a Course" on the main menu or complete a registration form and fax, mail, or E-mail as an attachment to Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center at conferenceadmin@nehc.mar.med.navy.mil.

OPENING SESSION: Monday morning is a plenary session designed for all Conference attendees. The session includes the Navy Surgeon General's Opening Remarks and the Keynote Address. A number of senior military officials and internationally recognized subject matter experts have spoken at previous opening sessions; we have invited similar speakers for 2010. PLEASE NOTE: Other conference courses, sessions, and on-site conference events will not be scheduled during the opening session.

NO-HOST RECEPTION: The following social event sponsored by Hampton Convention and Visitors Bureau is open to all conference participants and their guests.

CONFERENCE NO-HOST RECEPTION
DATE: MONDAY, 22 MARCH 2010
TIME: 1800-2000
LOCATION: HAMPTON ROADS CONVENTION CENTER

BALLROOMS A, B, C & D

INTERDISCIPLINARY SESSIONS: Many sessions were deemed to be of interest to all disciplines. There may be sessions outside your specialty which apply to you; please use the Day-at-a-Glance or select the "Intended Audience" option from the Drop-down located on the "Find a Course" page to find other topics of interest.

CONCURRENT SESSIONS: (Tuesday through Thursday) are specialty sessions featuring a variety of individual speakers talking about specific operational experiences, research, technical problems, new developments, and similar topics. Talks are grouped by specialty interest such as epidemiology or industrial hygiene. Attendees can shift from one concurrent session to another within the same time period, allowing them to hear different speakers in different concurrent sessions.

COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER: Computer equipped area(s) are centrally located at the Conference and used for courses and demonstrations of the latest software programs supporting all aspects of Occupational Health and Preventive Medicine. These computers are available for general use during non-course/demo hours.
