COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is an on-the-job-training course consisting of supervised experience in pest management control techniques as well as laboratory entomological techniques. The typical student will assist DVECC personnel:
- In evaluation of pesticide using suspected resistant strains of various arthropod specimens
- To evaluate pesticide-dispersal equipment for possible us by the Armed Forces
- In collecting, identifying, pinning and preserving arthropod specimens for classroom study
- On conducting shipboard consultations on naval vessels and advise medical and supply department of corrective procedures
- In accomplishing pestmanagement of active pest populations using live pesticide and the latest equipment and techniques.
COURSE PREREQUISITES: Reservists accepted for this course must have successfully completed MEDICAL ENTOMOLOGY AND PEST MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY (CIN: B-322-1050) and OPERATIONAL ENTOMOLOGY TRAINING (CIN: B-322-1077).
