Mission
The Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center manages the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) Environmental Programs. The Environmental Quality group is staffed with engineers and other technical professionals dedicated to providing the Navy's hospitals, clinics, research, and dental facilities worldwide with environmental expertise, quality assurance, and compliance oversight.
The Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center also develops and communicates agency-wide policy to Navy medical facilities on environmental quality issues, laws, regulations, standards, and procedures. Our staff is also responsible for ensuring that BUMED activities are in compliance with these policies and regulations.
Introduction to the Environmental Quality Web Site
The purpose of this Environmental Quality (EQ) Web Site is to provide summarized environmental guidance on state and federal regulations, Navy policies, and environmental managment system (EMS) requirements. This web site lists the various regulatory programs that may apply to Navy medical facilities (hospitals, clinics, research, dental) guidance documents, questionaires, and checklists are provided to assist BUMED Environmental Program Managers (EPMs) . Contact information is also provided for further information or assistance. The environmental media and programs for which EQ has oversight include:

Regulatory Basis and Navy Policy - Federal facilities, including medical, comply with state and federal environmental regulations. The Navy has also initiated policies and procedures related to environmental managment.
